About the authors of this blog: Thomas
and Erna Dreyer
We have been living in Johannesburg for the last 6 years, pastoring in
Randburg Reformed Church (RCR). We are blessed with a daughter, Jawé,
who is 7 years old. We met 18 years ago while studying B.Com
degrees at the University of Pretoria. After finishing his B.Com degree,
Thomas felt called to full time ministry and went to the North-West University
(Potchefstroom Campus) to study Theology. We got married in 2001
while Thomas was still studying. Erna was teaching to keep the boat
afloat. After Thomas finished his M.Th. at Potchefstroom, we got the
opportunity to go to London, where we stayed for a year and a half.
Here we became involved in a ministry to South-Africans in London which would
later grow into Canada Water Church. This sparked our interest in
Church planting. After returning from London we ministered in a small
town in Kwazulu-Natal, South-Africa. In 2007 we were called to
Randburg Reformed Church in Johannesburg where we are responsible for
equipping young single and newlywed adults to be church of Jesus in
Johannesburg. We are also responsible for and involved in the
“evangelism and outreach-ministries” of the RCR from which the vision to plant
new churches in Johannesburg grew. Erna has a part time admin job at RCR and the rest of the time she is a wife and mom.
